I enjoyed the overall vibe very much, though couldn't quite get past some of the plotholes – one of them being something on which the entire "twist" of the story is based 😅.
The plot's only saving grace is its fable-like quality – I can forgive the lack of logic in a fable.
I liked the way the worldbuilding was executed, though, and how unique it was compared to what usually lands in my hands. Liked the characters, too, even if the MC got on my nerves a lot. While I disliked many of his decisions, I think they were in character for him, which is the most important. The side characters were cool, too (and a part of me wishes the story was about them instead of him 😅)
In the end, I liked this book's overall style, which made up for its shortcomings.

A fantasy universe created by Sir Terry Pratchett, Discworld is a flat planet balanced on the backs of four elephants, which in turn stand on the back of a giant turtle. These are comedic novels that parody traditional fantasy tropes. All books can be read as standalones.

Dramatic battles, tense political intrigue, unique world building...and is that maybe some romance I'm sensing? These books are not Romantasy but focus primarily on the SFF elements. Romance is a subplot and may not appear until later in the series, but when it does, you won't be disappointed.
