An introduction to the Fantasy genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

Very enjoyable. I had no idea what to expect so I was delighted to find myself laughing out loud regularly at Anne's antics. I wish I'd had time to read the book with my eyes instead of the Audible version, though. While I like Rachel McAdams as an actress, I didn't enjoy her narration of the audiobook. Let me clarify a bit... I thought the dialogue reading was very good but the narrative portions felt monotone and I found myself missing large chunks because I just tuned out.
Still a happy experience that took me away from the horrible things going on in the world today.

Then Diana puts too many murders into [her stories]. She says most of the time she doesn't know what to do with the people so she kills them off to get rid of them.
so real

Finishing Anne of Green Gables gave me a sense of pleasure and happiness. This was so good!! I enjoyed reading this so much.
This book has such a great way to make me appreciate peace and contentment. Anne is a wonderful main character and I grew to love her too. What I love about Anne was her way with words that make things beautiful. And she always makes the best out of whatever situation she's in. The way she appreciates life makes me appreciate it too.
I really love Diana as well. I've always loved Diana. She's so selfless and supportive. I also love Matthew so much, the way he loves Anne was so wholesomene to see. He was such a sweet and kind person. All of what happened to Anne was because Matthew loved her first.
I'm surprised Gilbert didn't have much appearance in this book (he's more of a passing topic in conversations, and existed through Anne's mind), but I still like how it all focuses on Anne and her life, and not puppy love. It made their friendship much more exciting in the end, and I look forward to the development of that.
This book truly is amazing. It made me laugh and cry. The writing is witty when it wants to, and very wholesome the next. I've always loved the idea that even though Anne lived a life of hardships before she was adopted, she had lived such a good life since then after that. The way her life at Green Gables was described made me want to also live a life like theirs.
I especially love the ending, not only for the fact that she's finally friends with Gilbert, but also because she realized she loves the quiet life than in the town, and that giving up college was an easy decision if its for the sake of Green Gables. Made me tear up.
Ugh this makes me want to rewatch the Netflix show all over again!!! Even though I watched it many times already. It was very accurate and was faithful to the book, and I'm happy with that and I think that will make me enjoy the show more now.
My first exposure to Anne was from the Netflix show Anne with an E, and I've been inlove with this ever since. It has continued to be one of my favorite shows, and I'm so glad I finished reading the first book now. I enjoy all content related to this, especially the movie as well. I'm looking forward to watching the anime next!

I was annoyed while reading towards the end. It got me frustrated that they beat around the bush a lot, and too much redundant dialogue going on.
Despite that, I still enjoyed the book in its entirety.

The concept was really nice, that's what caught my attention and read this book despite not having read the rest of the series. The FMC was pretty feisty and badass, it was a nice touch for a historical romance book.
On the get-go, I really liked the banter between the main characters, it felt natural and not cringe at all. But despite that, I still had too many eyerolls in this book, especially towards the ending. Truth be told, it annoyed me soooo much when the story was too dragged out, and there was just so much yapping that I really don't care about. That was the flaw that stood out to me. I was enjoying reading until that point.
The sexual chemistry was alright, I liked the teasing though, made me giggle once or twice lol.
What I like the most about this book is that there is a swimming pool scene and I realized that this was the first time I've read about it in a historical romance setting. It was very new to my imagination. Suffice to say, it was delicious to read.
I binged this so fast though (about a day), so its still quite an interesting read.
