I enjoy the characters and the world building. This book reveals more secrets about the twins’ past. Additional challenges and threats bring the twins and the heirs together finally, and we are rewarded with them working together as a team.

There had been too many poor decisions and set backs leading up to this book, and I feel like we haven’t had significant and meaningful victories from the main characters. The wins were very minuscule in the last two books, from my point of view.

The story telling feels a bit choppy. The way Gabriel’s secret was revealed felt sudden and it didn’t flow well. I was hoping the revelation would be a large part of the plot but it wasn’t presented in that way. There’s too much focus on romance. I wish romance was a secondary to the bigger problem they need to face—like defeating Lionel and taking the throne.

Perhaps I am growing tired of the series. I enjoyed this book a little less than the previous ones. I can’t believe we are still into the 5th book and the girls are still freshman. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Well, I am spent. I’m pretty sure I have bags under my eyes.

I think the attempt to bring Lance’s sister back was absolutely the worst idea. Like the fact that they had no back up plans was what worried me. That lack of planning irritated me the worst. Because everybody had to know at some degree that it’s not a good idea to bring back someone from the Shadow Realm, right? 🫠

My favorite part of the book was the snow fight.

I also wish the story goes at a faster pace. It’s a bit dragging.
