women and white power in the united states
white women have defined, upheld, and reified the white power movement in the US from day one. if you’re a white woman, this is your history.
these are primarily academic history, political science and philosophy books used in my research during my MA in history. consequently they may be a bit dense and/or dry to the casual reader.

DNF. I kept going back to this book over and over to try and read and just couldn’t.
Aside from the blatant ChatGPT usage, this is horribly un-edited and veeeery difficult to follow and get into. It could have benefited from a real human editor and multiple rewrites—I followed the author years ago on TikTok bc the concept was fun but it’s clear now that she just wanted to get her name out there as a fantasy author with a Big Book™️ and not actually telling a cohesive story.

“What was the full name you used to call him again, Bang-Bang?” “Noch nho bej,” Bang-Bang replied […] “Little beige guy,” [Beck] translated.

obsessed with that omg, the banter in this is so casual and fun. i feel like too often authors make it too “LOOK SEE HAHA THEY’RE BANTERING” instead of it feeling natural. Peterson is very good at making it feel natural.

sorry for yet another recommendation thread 😭 i unfortunately get frequent/chronic migraines (i'm not sure if i meet the requirement for "chronic" 100%, but they're certainly frequent) which makes it hard to read properly. on a "good" day/when i'm recovering in bed reading something easy is a nice way to spend time as it doesn't involve much movement or energy. unfortunately a lot of the books i tend to read don't fall under the "easy-reading" category so i find myself struggling and thought i'd ask here so...
what books would you recommend that are good for migraines? i'm thinking like, cozy/comfy fiction (ideally), low stakes, non-confusing plot etc. i've not read much (modern) fiction in the last.. 10 yrs or so, so i'm not really sure what my typical genres are anymore, but i'm going to try to compile a list, ty in advance 🫶 (also happy to answer questions that clarify i just dk what else to put rn sorry 😅)
ETA: thank you for all the recs! i've compiled them all into a list here, feel free to suggest more 🫶

good-aligned blond MMCs
We all know about the evil blond men. What about the good ones? - upstanding, chivalrous men who exhume positive masculinity… and happen to be blond

Does anyone have anything they do AFTER they finish a book? Maybe making an entry in their journal, moving it to a different shelf, etc—I wanna hear about the post-read things you do!
I personally have a personalized “from the library of” embosser my husband gave me for my birthday, and I only stamp the books once I finish. Its such a fun lil reward 🫶🏼
