There are so many good things to say about this that I don't know where to start!

I have been waiting for the translation of this to come out forever, and it is so so good! Like take the level of good that you think it is and then multiply that by ten and it's still better than that. The Art? Stunning. The Characters? Incredibly. The Story? Call me a leaf because I was blown away. I am the biggest sucker in the world for good manga or graphic novel and this delivered!

The use of color to contrast between the two worlds is so cool. I loved the use of warm tones on Earth and the cool tones on Planeta. This manga has found a perfect balance between cozy and gut-wrenching!

Planeta is currently available in both English and Spanish. If you're a fan of cool stories featuring members of the lgbtq+ community and amazing art, then totally check this out!

Thank you so much to Edelweiss and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This is such a funny and heartfelt story! Dogs and Punching Bags is a story about love, loss, and finding your place in a community! I loved Chimaki and how sweet he is despite his tragic backstory. The art is also breathtaking, and I loved it so much! There were a few pages where I was like, "Wow, I want to hang this on my wall!" So much thought and character is put into the side characters in the story as well! If you're a fan of graphic novels and manga, I totally recommend checking this out!

This book was weird in all the best (and worst) ways! Those familiar with Murata's work will know that her books tend to be ... A LOT! I have learned to tread with caution when reading her books after reading Earthlings and being scared for life from it. I feel like Vanishing Worlds is a nice fit among the other books by her.

This book takes a look at what it truly means to be a family in a world where pregnancy and children occur through scientific means ( IVF, artificial wombs, etc). It poses the question that if men and women didn't need each other to procreate, would there still be a need for the family unit? This weird little book does an excellent job of exploring this question and taking a look at what we consider "normal".

If you've enjoyed Murata's other works, I totally recommend giving this one a go! While it may be short, it's jam-packed full of the weirdness that you can only get from one of Murata's books!

  • Physical book VS ebook

    What do you prefer?

I used to be adamant that physical books are it. That nothing could beat holding actual paper but the past few years, I have come to love reading ebooks (mostly because i didn't have access to paperbacks for a while) and ever since i got myself a kindle, i haven't been able to pick up a physical book (its been 8 months)!!!
