well. that was disappointing. i was looking forward to this book for so long as i follow the author on tumblr, and now i kind of don’t know what to look forward to. particularly as my hopes of a good book were dashed at 25%.
see the thing is, i didn’t expect this book to be a literary masterpiece, or have the most amazing plot. i did expect it to be a funny, slightly lewd reprive from my daily life. BUT IF YOU MARKET YOUR BOOK AS FUNNY, IT ACTUALLY HAS TO BE FUNNY. i often encounter this, actually, and i think it boils down to we have to stop telling internet people they can write books.
obviously that’s harsh and mean and i feel horrible just for saying it and they can write books if it brings them joy etc etc but maybe what i’m trying to say is. i have to stop reading internet people’s books. this is the third time i’ve been promised hilarity that did not come to fruition.
AND ANOTHER THING. i was promised gay sex. kinky old man yaoi and i got exactly. zero. sex scenes. and i do not need a sex scene to enjoy a book by any means, but i felt this was another issue with the way the book was marketed.
