if this author has Portuguese ancestry, I truly apologise but I simply cannot abide by the use of Portuguese in this book. as a Portuguese person born and raised, I wish this story had been at least skimmed by someone with a good understanding of the language bc the use of random words was straight out of Google translate and really took me out of the story.
when I wasn't cringing at that though, this story was fine. kind of wild that the fmc just jumps straight into wanting to fuck this random dude but I'm not one to judge (much). it was also an interesting use of the miscommunication trope - or rather the "we don't speak each other's language and literally cannot communicate" trope. it felt realistic and lent an interesting challenge to an otherwise straightforward story.

I'm loving this sooooo much better than Flawless! I read Flawless a year or two ago and didn't like it at all. I finally decided to give this one a go and I can safely say I'm glad I gave the series a second chance!

I'm so glad im not the only one that is fed up with nena's shit at this point in the story. Like I get it that she thought he'd left her out of nowhere in the beginning, but at this point, you've seen what happens to vampire victims, you know what it looks like to others, he's told you multiple times he thought you were dead, everyone said you were dead and that it was his fault and your dad was literally about to get at him, what the fuck was he gonna do???? he was a kid!!! and he spent 9 years thinking nena was dead so ofc he went on with his life (barely) and tried to move on! am I being unreasonable??? I get that she feels helpless in her life and circumstance but that is so not nestor's fault nor his problem really? why are you acting like he committed high treason when, even if he had come back, you still couldn't be together because of your bitchass dad?
I'm so annoyed lol

Mayhaps I am now obsessed with horror romance? Or maybe I'm just obsessed with the stories Isabel Cañas writes.
Do I wish Nena had pulled her head out of her ass about 100 pages before she did? Yes, but then the tension wouldn't be as scrumptious so sacrifices must be made I suppose (also I can relate with feeling like your parents' love is conditional on being the perfect daughter so I get it girl)
