First impressions... I forgot when I checked it out from the library that's it's YA which I tend to stray away from as I get older, but I love D&D so I shall continue reading just for the sake of it. I LOVE the cover though and think it is SO cute, with the little board games and dice and the complimentary colors ooooooo so good.

I’m really enjoying that Rocket (the dog) is a whole side character on their own. He’s so cute. I love that he kind of has lines, but it’s just Michelle interpreting what she thinks he wants to say. I feel like I do that with my cat all of the time, so it’s relatable.

this was my first isabel canas but it will definitely not be my last. the way she was able to weave such romance into a truly horrifying story of demonic possession and the fight to own one's own body is truly remarkable! the use of possession to portray the lack of bodily autonomy experienced by women is by no means a new idea, but the way it is done here is so heartwrenching and gutting that it made the ending feel viscerally earned by both main characters for sure.
if he's not a hot alchemist with a rat tail, a gold hoop earring and slowly suffering from mercury poisoning i do not want him!!!!!
