Most of my disappointment for this book is related to the hype. I usually like a book that wears its themes on its sleeve and gives me a lot to chew over, but I found The Mother character too frustrating and unwilling to interrogate her choices to make this anything better than mid.

Im really enjoying the book so far. It has summer romcom vibes which is so nice. Especially since im reading it and the weather is really nice.
But the flashbacks are difficult to read. It seems so rushed through like a second thought. It just telling us what happened, and I know that its the past and we're just supposed to know what happened. But I really dislike that kind of writing, Im speed reading through it because what's happening is gripping me. Im not interested in what happened in their past summer vacations if this is how they are written.
All of their vacations could be described in a few pages. It couldve been taken out and I wouldn't have cared. I kinda just want to know about the Croatia trip.
Its also a bit jarring considering the rest of the book has an inlived feeling. Like its happening now.
