Apparently, she posted on X saying she read 120 books in 2025. Many people said those weren’t good books, even “trash” because many of them are erotic.
As someone who loves fictions but doesn’t read erotics, I don’t think this is right. Except for the erotic parts, the books must be interesting so we could finish them.
And I hate it when people say you can’t be learning anything beneficial if you don’t read non-fictions.

I’m convinced that this is a collection of stories. It’s not only about Ifemelu and Obinze. It’s also also everyone else around them.
Beautifully written.

So, let's talk DNFing.
Do you DNF books - why/why not? For what reasons do/don't you DNF - share your pettiest reasons and most thoughtful considerations 😅 do you only DNF if you actively dislike a book, or do you also DNF books that you don't hate but also just don't love? What makes you hang on and give the book another chance, what's a last straw? Of you've ever given a DNF read another chance, has it been worth it, surprised you, etc? And other thoughts about the topic, whatever comes to mind.
I've DNFd book I really disliked in the past, but I've also pushed through some books that sparked no joy. I'm currently reading a book that is well written and has very unique vibes, so I definitely don't hate it, but it's not clicking quite right either, so I'm pondering a DNF here. I'm not sure if I should try to push through, or if I'm just setting myself up for sunk cost fallacy, so I figured a club post where can all chat about DNFing in general might be fun so I stop agonising over the question 😅

Six pages in and I am already hooked. I’ve taken a bunch of notes. I’ve got a bunch of questions. One has to be unbelievably observant to write like that about a land that is not of her own.
Now I know why Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was called one of the most important writers of the modern times.
