I think I am going to DNF this one. I just can’t get into it and don’t really care about the characters or what’s happening. I’m lowkey disappointed because I loved the Netflix series adaptation of this book.

In your experience, when books aren't good all the way through—so they had a rough patch either in the beginning, middle or end—which is the most forgivable and which affects your rating the most?
I'm guessing it'd be most common for people to forgive iffy beginnings if the book then improves (assuming it's not so bad that it leads to a DNF) but I'm open to being surprised by someone who thinks the opposite/some nuance answers. I guess I've also just been reflecting on a book I read and thinking about how much I ""should"" be holding its first 20% against it in my rating 🧐
Also interested to hear in y'alls examples of books that had the biggest rough beginnings that you pushed through to then find it a good book overall + conversely books with the most disappointing endings after being mostly great! As spoiler free as possible of course. Maybe namedrop and just iykyk
