I want to be a more mindful reader and for me this means engaging more with the text, I kinda know how to do it with physical books but right now I can only read on a kindle basic, do you know of a system that might work on digital books? I was thinking maybe something like a commonplace or perhaps some index cards?

Hi all :) I am considering doing another round of "reading around the world", because I really enjoyed the first one. Last time I did it with all folktale collections. This time, I am considering either

So I wanna get into immersive reading with audiobooks, but most of the recommendations here are for Libby and Hoopla, and that's absolutely fine! But those platforms are not available where I live (the south of France), so I was wondering if my fellow European readers use platforms or apps to listen to audiobooks?

My goal for 2026 is to read at least one book a month from Irish authors. I'm currently brainstorming that tbr, what culturally relevant or famous books would I like to read/reread etc
But it got me thinking, slightly inspired by challenges like "reading around the world" - what are some famous/cultural classics from other countries? And who better to ask than PB users!
So,
It can either be by an author from there, set in the country, or both! Or even just one of your favs
And if you're from somewhere #Big like the United States I've a bigger challenge - answer these but for your state/region!
I'll be adding an international read each month to my 2026 tbr, so choose well ;)

Are you a completionist and have to read a series straight through before you can pick up anything else, or do you like to pick up other books in between? Or perhaps a secret third option?
I have a bad habit of "taking a break" in between books that somehow turns into 6 months and a new series started... at this point I am in the middle of like 6 series lol. I ended up setting a goal for myself for the rest of the year to lock in and finish out as many series as possible, including some that will need full rereads because I have forgotten too much of the beginning books (looking at you Poppy War).
I need to know if I am alone in my struggles

1/3 of my 2025 total books read have to be non-fiction (or so I challenged myself) and I am severely behind on that goal.
Please save a girl and recommend me short non-fiction recs! Poetry is welcome!

How do y'all feel about users who post only quotes from the book in the forum, without adding any of their own thoughts? I find it kind of irritating, but I'm very willing to be in the minority about that. (To be clear, I post quotes from books all the time, but it's to show exactly where I'm at in the book, and then to talk about whatever the quote is.) My initial reaction is to upvote it, because it's usually a great quote, but then I realize that it's not really adding anything to the conversation about the book. So then I think about down voting it, but that makes me feel like kind of a jerk. Thoughts? Like I said, I'm willing to be wrong about this, so I'm open to why anyone feels like it's great.

i very much enjoyed this at the start, and was so excited to find out what was going on in the town of fairydale. that being said, i think this could’ve been at least 200 pages shorter, and ‘slowburn’ romance is big time false advertising. they talk about marriage within the first weeks of meeting eachother. i wish the ending would’ve wrapped up the story better, i feel like there’s still so many questions left unanswered.
