Heeey everyone on Pagebound! I've just got to share this cool find with you all – Steven Reese and his newsletter called Read Your Colour. It's all about getting book recs that really fit how you like to read. 😂📚
So, the idea is super simple: you take a quick quiz to find out your "reading colour" – like, what kind of stories light you up inside. Are you into deep thoughts, wild adventures, or something totally offbeat? He sorts readers into colours and then shares recommendations that match each one. I tried it and apparently I'm an orange reader. I have been getting his newsletter for a couple of months now, and it nailed my love for big fantasy worlds without any mushy stuff.
If you're keen to try, hop over to the quiz here, it's super fast! Then you can subscribe (free option) to his Substack for weekly book ideas tailored just for your colour.
Just to be clear, I've got zero affiliations with him or anything, no sneaky promo here. I just think it's a great way to discover new, unexpected reads. Happy reading! 🌈✨

Hey, beautiful people 💫 After that post I made in the forum I felt so surprised to see so many people relate to my situation, and it was overwhelming (in the best way) to feel everyone's support and understanding. So I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to give me a little uplifting, it really made a difference.
This made me think that we really are a community of dear anonymous friends, who support each other through the love of books. Which led me to this thought: There are so many beautiful and original usernames... What's the story behind each one? (except for one_crazy_eliott, I think I understand the reason behind Mr. Crazy's username 🤭🤭🤭)
So, if you feel comfortable, share the story behind it. I think it will help bring us closer and keep everyone's anonymity anyway.
I'll start: The OGs know I started PB as fantasy.betareader but decided later to change my username to Pipsy to help me feel more connected here. This is a nickname my sister gave me when I was 3 or 4 years old, and it stuck until today. My whole family calls me by it, my friends, my teachers, my bosses, etc. Even on my passport, my signature says Pipsy. So that's basically my name 😊

the year is almost over and i am nosy. what are your bookish regrets?
mine: i regret not getting into fantasy sooner. i kept thinking it would be too dense or confusing, and i missed out on so many great reads. the PB community nudged me in with patient recs, spoiler-light explanations, and vocab help, and now i actually look forward to new worlds and magic systems. thank you for the push y’all!
your turn! 😬

6 stars !!!
i honestly can’t get over how good this book is, i thoroughly enjoyed every single second. it was perfectly atmospheric, and honestly transported me to edinburgh. it felt like i was there with them, and i am heartbroken to be back into the ‘real world’. the characters are everything to me.
100% recommend listening to the audiobook, the narrator did an unbelievable job.
