Coming of age doesn't always have a bright and sunny story, Minato Kanae choose the other side of it, the side of teenage who looking for their true identity and craving for validation from people around them especially their parents (and in this book, the role of a mother got so much highlighted because that's a core of how you gonna grow up later).
Challenge myself to read the book version because lately I feel like my attention span got a little bit better when I consume a thriller medias. I choose this book among any thriller books because I already familiar with the story (I've watched the movie back then) and try to get rid from my reading slump. But who would've thought, when I started reading it, I found it more interesting than the movie version. There are so much details that didn't make it into the movie, like the pov from Naoki's mom that started from her daughter when she read her mom's diary, and other details I can't mention here. That details make this book feels like you're reading everyone confessions to the priest way more better than the movie.
Since I already know much about the plot, I feel like the story just get more interesting when we start seeing Naoki's mom POV until the ending that I still remain the best part of the story.
