"the unknown" was my now fourth book read (his tenth book written) by riley sager and it did deliver as i hoped it would. a "wow that was really good!!!" just came over me when was done reading. the premise of the book hooked me from the beginning. the eerie atmosphere, the lonely island where five women presumably went missing a hundred years ago and the mystery revolved around that was so palpable and gave me the creeps. i loved how this played a lot with paranormal/supernatural (not the tv-show, unfortunately) elements successfully making the reader believe there is truly something unreal going on. i guessed none of the (multiple) surprising and truly fucked up plottwists which made the book in my opinion really unique. i thoroughly enjoyed this thriller which i've read it rather quickly.

Irgendwie hat mich dieser Band nochmehr verwirrt und es hat mich zwischendrin handlungstechnisch kurzzeitig verloren. Es waren zu viele (neue) Charaktere und den Überblick zu behalten war etwas schwierig. Außerdem haben mich die Formulierungen "Mein Kinn klappte auf den Boden", "[...]fühlte sich an wie Schmirgelpapier" und "Nacht-und-Nebel-Aktion"( welcher ein NS-Begriff ist) zu oft vor oder waren wie letzteres völlig unpassend. Das war das erste Buch welches ich komplett als Hörbuch gehört hab und das war echt eine coole Erfahrung. Ich glaube einfach dass Celine Leonoras Bücher und ich hiermit unglücklicherweise Ende finden, wobei ich gehofft hab das diese Dilogie mehr lieben würde.
