I think this just became my new favorite Devney Perry book. It was a love letter to Montana, a place I’ve never been but have such nostalgia for thanks to her stories. Being set in the 80s also gave this charm I wasn’t expecting, but completely fell in love with. I’m now yearning for a simpler time, when we had to be home to make a phone call.
The characters were so well fleshed out for how short the story is, and the plot had me all over the place trying to figure out the suspects and possible motives. I’m now also debating asking my husband to grow in his moustache…

An introduction to the Fantasy genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

Fictional books that feel like a warm hug, featuring magic and whimsy and perfectly happy endings. These are lower on stakes and higher on good vibes!

This was repetitive and nonsensical and I couldn’t put it down

I wanted to love this one so bad - the magic system and the world building has a lot of potential. I also found myself rooting for the FMC, despite how unlikable she is for most of the book. But the romance felt forced, and there were many periods where large swaths of time had passed, but we were still stuck in the same routine - so I felt the pacing suffered a bit as a result.
The ending had a lovely little cliffhanger that gives me hope book 2 will resolve my two main gripes 👀.

I'm going on a book buying ban to reset my relationship with buying books, get more intentional and have my owned TBR (both physical and ebooks) cut at least in half.
Here are my rules: [Ban ends at 20 books on my owned tbr - I'm at 44 atm]
Here are my thoughts: especially in the last year I read a lot, like a lot a lot, but my little shelve of unread books did not get smaller and it bothers me. I picked up a lot of books in sales impulsively and never got to the books I actually had intended to buy. I don't like this behaviour of mine and I'd like to fix it to a more intentional process. Any thoughts? Is someone on a buying ban too? What are your rules? 🙈
Edit:
