And which is most likely to stay put?
For me,
Probably next to be dethroned: Bunny. Most likely to stay put: Fellowship of the Ring
(I'm too tired to offer an explanation for mine but, if anyone wants to share their reasons, I think that would be fun to read!)
So curious about everyone's predictions!

In what goddamn universe is it normal to lick someone’s nosebleed of their face and then stick your blood covered tongue back into their mouth.

kingsglaive commented on nonhoration's review of The Owl Men of Shanidar
This book was a genre I don't think I've ever read before: a medieval style religious horror mixed with colonial science fiction. The world building felt fresh and while the side characters were a little thin I felt like the main characters were interesting and well-executed in their story roles. The wonder and horror that characters feel is well communicated. The Owl lore was really interesting, and the atmosphere of creeping dread was really well done. The secondary antagonist's descent felt realistic to me. I loved the themes of resistance that were woven in as well.
I did find a particular plot point strained credulity a bit in regards to how linguistics works, and I wish Brynn's scholarship had remained a more central part of the plot, since a few of the big revelations feel a bit unearned. There's also one particular aspect of the ending that felt a bit underbaked - I wish it had either been removed or had more time spent on it - but overall I really enjoyed this and look forward to more from this author.
