That opening was a little confusing but also scarily eye catching. I’m excited!!

  • Library Appreciation Post?

Wow my hold for Katabasis on Libby has gone from “indeterminate wait” to 12 to 5 to 2 weeks since I first placed it on 1 September because my library has obtained… 112 more copies since. Just wanted to share this little happiness!!!

  • Favourite Fantasy Worldbuilding – What Makes a World Feel Real?

I’ve been thinking a lot about worldbuilding recently; especially after reading the Bloodsworn Saga. The way the world was crafted made me feel like I was right there, living in it alongside the characters. Everything from the cultures to the politics to the magical elements felt so immersive and alive.

It got me wondering: what makes a fantasy world truly memorable for you? Is it the geography, the societies, the magic system, the creatures, or even smaller details like festivals, slang, or traditions?

I’d love to hear from other fantasy readers: which books or series completely sucked you in with their worldbuilding? What specific details or elements made the world feel real to you? And if you have recommendations for worlds that are so immersive you could almost step into them, please share, I’m always looking for new places to get lost in!

  • Does anyone else need a cooldown period between audiobooks?

I feel that if I start a new audiobook right after finishing one (excluding ones from the same series), I am not able to get into it as much as if I just start fresh after taking a day or so off.

I can read different physical books back to back to back to back, but there's just something about audiobooks that I can't digest with the same pace.

I'm also very picky with audiobook narrators though so this could be a me problem 🤷 I'm curious to hear if anyone else is the same!

  • Are you working on any badges in particular?

Are you actively working on any quests, or are you reading passively and seeing what happens naturally? Also, what are your goals for these quests- 100%, gold, bronze?

I joined a lot of quests and then forgot about them for a while... I recently went through them again in search of books that are already on my TBR or some that I would want to add. I noticed that I am close to getting a badge on a few quests, which is exciting.

I am a perfectionist, but I think I will settle for the bronze on some of the ones I joined. A way to branch out, without it being too overwhelming, if I realize it isn't for me.
