I want to know people’s opinion, and if anyone agrees with me… I think I read this book all the way like past 50% and for some reason, I felt like it was very stereotypical and a story that I’ve already heard from indigenous people. I hope this is not me being insensitive, but I felt like it was following a common trope of indigenous people. I was not able to finish this. There was no deep dive into the characters

Nothing like wanting to throw up this early in a non-fiction.

Back tracking a bit from the part I red last night because something doesn’t sit right to me and how it is connected to one another and that is:
First of all Playfair saying that about Babel still doesn’t sit right to me because why only Babel? Why can’t foreign born can’t get into Oxford? Eurocentric much? It only indicate that Babel and Oxford only accept foreign born cos they’re useful now is it? Whilst their intelligent will not be acceptable in other faculties because they’re not “European Origin”. Gosh the more I read the book the more I pull my hair cos all the casual or even harmful racism towards Robin (and Ramy so far)
The fact they accept foreign born in Babel cos they’ve spoken a language they’re not mastering yet and still all the written authors are British white men? Hmmmmmmmm. Not on my watch pal ✋
