Yooo, these two just can't catch a break. This story is like the movie One of Them Days with Keke Palmer and SZA but darker, not as funny and with a dead body involved...

What would you do if your father went missing, which forces you to return to your hometown and face the skeltons in your closet to find him? A missing person's case in a small town during the Halloween season makes for a perfect mytery thriller to read in the fall. The cover is deceptive because it gives off “spooky supernatual” vibes. However, sometimes the scariest things are people and what they are capable of doing.

I enjoyed this book! It was a quick read, and the mystery was intriguing. It had me guessing "who done it" after every chapter, gasping at the reveals and revelations. One thing I am biased about in thriller books are short chapters and No Rest for the Wicked delivered. I also appreciated the authors presentation of how trauma affects memory. This allowed me to connect more with the characters and be deceived by others…

Overall, it was a good read and perfect pick to add to your fall tbr! Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

  • Massive updates to my "Literature from the Global South" list

I wanted to let everyone know that I just did a massive overhaul on my list that is meant to feature books from the Global South. (If you're unfamiliar with what countries are included in the Global South, they're the underrepresented, exploited, and developing nations of South America, Africa, Asia and the Pacific Islands. Wikipedia has an excellent map!)

I removed a lot of the obscure academic texts and included many of the classics from various regions, as well as contemporary literature. I've done my due diligence to find as many books as I can that have English translations. Many countries that weren't represented before are included now. And I will keep updating it all the time as I find more works.

If you have seen the list before, check it out again. If you haven't seen it yet, here's the link!
