I have less than 10 chapters to go. I love Ruby Dixon’s books. She’s one of my fav authors. She’s in my top eight. By the Horns has been kind of predictable for me! I loved Bull Moon Rising. I love this series don’t get me wrong, I just feel like it was easy to figure out where the story was going. I’ll post back when I’m done with my thoughts and on whether it ended the way I thought it was going too.

Physical book readers - I was chatting with some bookish friends and we were talking about managing shelf space.
Are you the type of reader to keep all your books, or do you unhaul? If you unhaul, do you do it as you read or do you do it maybe once a season?
How else do you manage your space?

Anyone else like me, in that they put off reading their book club book until the last possible moment? This has resulted in me reading the last few pages of the book while on the Zoom call with the other members!
Even when I want to read the book, I seem to avoid reading it until I absolutely have to. What is wrong with me?

Are there terms that sound good written down, but give you the ick if someone says them to you? Also, if English is not your first language, what words are you using? Tell me in your language please :)
In german books it's always really weird if terms like darling are translated to words nobody uses irl. And I think there are more and more people using english terms, because it doesn't sound as weird. Does that happen in other countries too? If there are german people here, what terms do you actually use?

Are there any books you've read that you wish you never had?
For me, "The Hunting Wives." Nothing against the author (the writing was fine) but I could not stand that book.

Hi all! If this topic as been posted before, I am sorry. I haven’t seen it.
I am writing a romantasy and I’m on the fence of either doing one POV from FMC perspective or multiple POV and include the MMC aka the love interest.
What do you prefer when you are reading romance? Or really any genre?
Thank you!
Sometimes I like the multiple POV, sometimes I don’t. That’s why I’m struggling!

I've heard a lot of great things about her books but don't know where to start! A local bookseller recommended A Sorceress Comes to Call when I was in the shop recently and they had sprayed edge copies so I couldn't resist buying it (I'm a sucker for a pretty book), but I was wondering if there's any others I should read first?

Does anybody have any recs that feel like the song Cosmic Love by Florence and The Machine? Closed door or fade to black would be preferred.

I like to see people (mostly booktubers) talking about their anticipated releases online and there weren't any posts on this topic here!
So, there are couples that I have my eyes on: The Strength of the Few by James Islington. I have been waiting for the series to make its final to start reading the Will of the Many and these guys look so good that I know it will satisfy my fantasy cravings 😌
Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross. I loved her Letters of Enchantment series and the mythology she had created. I would love to see more in depth story about their gods.
Mate by Ali Hazelwood. I am sucker for her writing and I won't say no to more werewolf vampire romance.
Please share your yours too! I hope to find other releases that went under my radar 🙂↕️

I love the space that Pagebound has created for discussion, but I just wanna gently nudge people to be thoughtful about the language we use to describe books, especially surrounding romance! I've noticed a few people using "clean" to describe romance that is low-spice or closed door and I know some people might not be aware of how that language is harmful, but please use another term!
"Clean" has very sex-negative, shameful connotations because it insinuates that it's wrong or bad to read stuff that's more explicit! Especially in a time of increasing censorship where I'm from, specifically around anything erotic in nature, the last thing we need is to play into the sex = bad rhetoric, whether its intentional or not.
It's more than fine to prefer reading stuff with low-no spice, and it's also more than fine to prefer high spice! Let's try to keep this community welcoming and inclusive 💞💞💞
Edit with a couple notes: I haven't been on SM a lot the past couple of days so I was NOT expecting so many comments, but I appreciate everyone who has mostly kept the conversation respectful! I just want to add/clear up a couple of things:
First off, totally meant to include no spice, and when I was saying low-spice, I generally meant stuff where it's closed-door, vague, or there is no explicit content. As a reader and writer who is on the aroace spectrum, I think distinction on whether there is any sex, implied or otherwise, and how descriptive it is incredibly important, and I didn't mean for it to come across as not caring about folks who don't want any spice whatsoever!
Secondly, just because some people might not have experiences with the flavor of sex-negative, christian-flavored puritanism that is rampant in the USA does not undo the harm caused by the words, and I think conflating a request to be thoughtful about language we are using with censorship, now of all times, is ignorant at best. With how rampant censorship has been here lately, ESPECIALLY in regard to queer authors and stories, the last thing we need is to throw those under the bus and give the people trying to censor these works more fuel.
I also fully emphasize with people who don't love "spice" ratings because tbh I hate the word spicy, and also it's so incredibly subjective, but unfortunately, as a few other people pointed out, words like that are used to dodge algorithms and censorship on social media. Personally, whenever I'm describing books with erotic content, I usually just prefer to call it what it is, or to say high/low heat, but I would love to see a day where it's more widely acceptable to say "yes this work has explicit sexual content/is erotic/has no sex/has no explicit sex, etc."
I made this post in good faith because I know not everybody might think of things that way, but I'm not here for people invalidating other people's discomfort with the word "clean."

Someone help! I read the first 6 (including Assassin's Blade) books rapidly, one after the other and have struggled for years, yes years to finish this one. I even started over at a point. I'm at 22% is it just that this book starts slow?? Is it just that Chaol is boring 😭?
I want to finish and get to the last book but this book literally feels like a bridge!

It took me months after putting it down to pick it up again because the first few chapters of having a plethora of information thrown at me Now that I am at 13%, I just don't have the urgency to find out what happens next because I don't get what the high stakes are. Someone please convince me to keep reading! LOL I have read SJM's other books. This is the only series I'm having trouble with.
