i_pretend_i_do_not_see_it.meme listennnnn the show will fix a lot of this mess!

i'll start with the bad: girl the writing. 1 i'm not a fan of dual pov chapters and 2 some of the dialogue was just so cringey. sometimes i have to legitimately wonder if there are real people that think this is like peak comedy or what because i'm like WHATTTT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! my other big issue was that the pacing was absolutely wild to me. mainly in the sense that beau dies with legit ~83 pages left in the entire thing. it just feels like we have no time to explore a life-altering event and we just get the tldr of dean falling into his grief, self medicating with drugs and alcohol, getting kicked off the team, ditching the high school team he'd been helping, like WHAT? we're really just going to speed through all of that? i think this would have benefitted from being two books but i know that kind of goes against ensemble romance series like these. i was really enjoying how drawn out it was for allie + dean getting together, but once they were actually together it was like ugh ok i'm bored now. not because it's only interesting before a couple is together but bc the author made it boring after they were.

i said 'i'll start with the bad' and then realized i don't really have a lot of praise LMFAO. like i had fun and it's a cute quick read!! extremely helpful dare i say necessary to watch the show first and enjoy the characters on screen because i don't know if i could've done it without that. and honestly i'm going to give this book a rare gift which is me admitting that SOME of the sex scenes were actually a little hot. certainly not all of them but maybe one or two.

but it's fine like i said the show will fix this mess and i can't wait to see these hotties on my screen again next year

precisely what i needed at this point in time and i’m so grateful. i feel like the author and i have so many similarities and she put thoughts to paper that always felt so complicated and it was just really beautiful. she also brought up a ton of things to consider that’ll give me much to chew on in the coming years. i’m leaving this book feeling rejuvenated and a little more secure than i was going into it
