What an unexpected delight of a read. I had hesitated to read this book because I wasn’t sure that the cozy fantasy vibe was for me- and wow I’m so glad I was wrong. This story is beautifully written with the sweetest prose that will have you both reaching for tissues and laughing in the same page. The characters and the world is charming, and most importantly this book carries such beautiful and important themes e of empathy, kindness, and inclusion. I sometimes worry that this story might be lost on those who need to hear it most, but I hope that the story of the children can break through in a way that is heard. The story while sometimes predictable, and I could catch some of the reveals coming, it didn’t detract from the story and I don’t think anything was lost from not having that A-ha! moment dropped on you. It really did feel like a warm hug. I loved this book so much. I’m so glad I too broke out of my comfort zone and had the pleasure to explore this world.

i really am beginning to wonder if lucy just acts and behaves the way he does bc that’s what the world expects of him šŸ˜” (or at least that’s the main contributing factor to it)

ā€œThe world is a weird and wonderful place. Why must we try and explain it all away? For our own personal satisfaction?ā€ I don’t have a lot to say about this book yet besides the fact that i love it LOL but i’m obsessed with this quote

I was always not sure if I'd want to read this book and never fully put it on my TBR! I wasn't sure I'd particularly like it or if it'd be be my style, and I've never been happier to be so entirely and completely wrong. The writing and prose is so beautiful, the messages already and the story this book is telling is so important (especially at present), and I find myself constantly going back and forth between being completely struck and touched by the language, and then laughing and chuckling. I really truly fear that something is currently being set up that will absolutely rip my heart out later in this book...
