I haven't read this authors first book yet, but it's definitely going up on my list after reading this one. There's a great contrast of everyday life and actions with the spiralling gore and even supernatural elements. The author does a good job of making you hate these terrible men-though that's not a difficult thing to do to be fair, as they are utterly irredeemable. When they get their just punishments in the end its a very vindicating feeling and experience, which the build-up makes even better. This isn't the most 'female rage' book I've read, but it does show a lot of the other emotions that go along with that: fear, depression, confusion, just to name a few. It is a nuanced take which shows that inefficiency and uncaring of the justice system and men both in power and not. It never felt like a far-fetched plot because all of the things that happen to women in this book happen in real life as well, and its gratifying to see something done about it in fiction when it hardly ever happens in life. The ending is very abrupt and I don't love it, and the side characters were in the ranges of underdeveloped, but this was a great read overall.
