  • Recommendations for my dad lols

My dad hasn’t read in many years and since his birthday is coming up soon I’d really love to buy him some new books as a gift. Just to encourage him to start again since he was a lover of reading when I was growing up. I fear he’s been in the worlds longest reading slump hahah

He read all of the Lord of the Rings and does enjoy a fantasy setting, just nothing that leans more into the romance than the fantasy and world building.

He’s big into science and history! He loves wood working and crafting things (he makes his own jewellery these days). So anything that has those themes would be fun. Both fiction and non-fiction is appreciated!

Some of his favourite tv shows are the walking dead, game of thrones and most recently one called Silo (I know these are books/comic book’s themselves but just wanting something similar I guess) He’s been enjoying the Dune movies and he LOVED Project Hail Mary so these are good indicators of things he enjoys watching. He’s a big fan of all the old sci-fi and alien movies of the 70’s and 80’s.

This has became a bit long winded now but really I’m just looking for any recommendations that anyone thinks my 53 year old dad would enjoy 😂

I’ve always found it so incredibly beautiful that even when things are quite literally falling apart we still find small ways to make ourselves and the ones we love smile and laugh. Emotions and feelings are fascinating and ever changing, it’s a gift to be able to have them all.
