☁️ Book: To Drown Among The Stars by L.K. Frost ☾ Vibe / Mood: adventurous / slow-burn / oceanic / bittersweet

Mini Thoughts: ✧ the pacing was solid and the pirate plot kept me interested, but my biggest letdown was expectations vs reality. marketed as Legend of Zelda inspired, I went in ready to feel that energy and never quite found it. going in without that expectation would have made for a much smoother read ✧ the characters felt a little flat and the plot a little too linear and convenient for my taste, but the disability representation with Ulla as a deaf FMC was genuinely thoughtful and well done, one of the clear highlights of the whole book

Optional Favorite Detail: ♡ the mysterious ancient artifact and weapon at the heart of the pirate plot. genuinely intriguing enough to make me curious about where this series is headed next 🌊

    ☁️ Book: Storm Breaker by Nisha J. Tuli ☾ Vibe / Mood: electric / action-packed / slow-burn / addictive

Mini Thoughts: ✧ the opening had me a little hesitant — it was giving Divergent meets Fourth Wing and got repetitive in places — but once Rook entered the picture and the layers of this world started peeling back, I was completely gripped and my jaw was on the floor more than once

✧ Poet's arc from obedient and unquestioning to someone who absolutely refuses to sit back and fall in line was so satisfying to watch unfold and the storm magic still being a mystery at the end? I need book two immediately 🌩️

Optional Favorite Detail: ♡ Rook and everything about his dynamic with Poet — the slow build, the tension, the impossible stakes. he had me from the moment he walked in 🖤
