“What he didn’t realize was that I wanted more than a dishwasher I wanted him to understand that without having to tell him” so valid, this woman just gave birth and is given a dishwasher cause wasn’t doing the dishes 😭 I would be a mad wife….

“ a few drinks in, I admitted out loud that maybe I’d like to be known for something other than shaped salads. She had said we all had parts to play and then reminded me that it could be worse. She was right we did have roles to play. And I could make impressive salads”

6 stars honestly. This book is a masterpiece honestly. The dual pov was the perfect choice for this book. AND THE 9 YEAR TIME JUMP???? Nestor thinking Nena was dead this whole time 😭😭😭. And Nena thinking he just got up and abandoned her 😭 just utterly heart breaking. Nestor is the literal definition of a yearning man in a non cringe way. He LOVED this woman and literally had to run away cause he was in denial of his “death” AND blamed himself. This man never gave up and literally disobeyed her father’s threats to go get her back. I hated how Nena didn’t speak up but I understood why.
My physical book is HEAVILY marked up with quotes that struck my core. there were so many times where I was literally about to crash out cause the tension/passion between these two was insane. I appreciated that this book wasn’t heavily smutty. You can feel the love even after 9 years apart just through Nestor and nenas internal thoughts. Mainly Nestor’s….i need my man to be like him 😂
I loved all the Mexican culture in this book and LOVEDDDDDD the audiobook narrators as well. It was literal perfection.
I appreciated the vampire plot as well in the end, with the being a weapon and all. And how they were described as actual spirit monsters. But at the same time Nenas pov of humanizing them and treating them with kindness struck my heart.
