if you've ever TRULY yearned for a girl in your life as a closeted lesbian, this book will chew you up and spit you out. it's so painfully relatable, and i felt a little too seen for my liking😭 in the nicest way, i hate this book😭😭😭 i hate it because it had me hanging by a thread the entire time. but it was so so so good. highly recommend👍

such a beautiful read detailing the gruelling experience of a black mother in the 1830s. this isn’t just a book about slavery. it's a story about a mother’s love, her grief, and her unbreakable will to find the children who were stolen from her. the main focus is, of course, the search for freedom, but it’s also about how hope by itself can be its own kind of freedom. it's truly inspirational.

highly recommend if you want a raw pov of a woman having to survive slavery in america and the many trials during that. i think it's definitely important to read these kinds of books more than once in a while even if it isn't a happy one.

I've found it soooo hard to finish a book lately, like my reading slump is out of control. I'm dying for tips or suggestions. I'm open to anything. Before you ask, yes the big three is at play here (depression, anxiety, adhd). Thank you beautiful (or handsome) people.

Do you guys ever read multiple books at the same time or mainly read one at a time?
Sometimes I have this urge I want to start another series or standalone book in tandem with another series I already started to read. But knowing myself I feel like I would mix the two details up when I read? It’s hard for me to jump around from one plot and then a whole new plot/world/char.
