moonheart commented on kimikat's review of The Night Circus
This one was slow for me to get into, but once admitted to the circus, you just have to sit with it and let the wonder come to you.
As much as I admired it, though, I never fell into it the way I did The Starless Sea. I found myself more captivated by the ideas than the romance, more in love with the themes than the plot. Still, this is a story that scratches your brain in a special way. It quietly asks whether beauty, creation, and human connection can outlast the games built by those obsessed with power. For me, the answer was the circus itself. The ending made had me feeling like it wasnāt a conclusion but more like a reminder that stories, and the people who carry them forward, never truly end.
