I don’t know... I’m a fan of urban fantasies where two major syndicates butt heads against each other with interesting magic system and this book actually checks off those things, but after reading only a few chapters, I got disengaged pretty early. Maybe it’s the writing (?), but then again I’ve read books with simple writing that are far more interesting regardless. The world-building feels kinda weak too.
Also I found myself not really caring about the main characters. They feel so dry, especially Ari. All his personality’s about is him being so attractive people can’t look away from him. Sam too. Her relationship with her mom is a pretty interesting aspect of her so far, but then that’s it.
I’m so sad because I really wanted to like this book since this has a promising premise 🥲

I am equal parts invested enough to need to know how this ends and bored out of my mind. How is that possible?
I can't decide if it's the pacing, the thoughts in third person, something else. I don't know. But I am intrigued at the magic and world while just counting down until I am finally done.
