    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

5/5-This was a captivating story. We follow Shaka, who was born with a muscle disorder that has left her to use a wheelchair and ventilator to breathe, and she spends her days in her room in a care home built by her parents. And though she may be limited, physically, she doesn't let that stop her from being her. This book made me laugh at the wittiness, but also reflect on just how the world is really made for able-bodied people, and it’s only slowly changing. Shaka talks about how everyday tasks put strain on her body, even reading a book, and while reading this book, though it is small, made me realize just how difficult this might be for others. This is not only a book that was made for the reader to see life from the perspective of someone who is disabled, but to reflect and gain more awareness that there are very limited resources that truly help those with these disabilities, and in places such as Japan, as Shaka explains, it is not as accommodating. I recommend this book, it’s small but it packs a punch and it will leave you wanting to learn more.
