i don't think it was necessary to have a novella about what essentially is a third act conflict... in my opinion, luca and angel's story was already pretty well developed in the first book

honestly, this book left me very indifferent... i can appreciate the writing and i think it did a good job in making me feel the slowness of the main character's life, the tiredness, the repetitiveness of it all. i also think the main character was well fleshed out and her character changed in an appropriate manner for the year of rest. but overall, i think this could have been better executed. it's a clear portrait of depression and substance abuse, and it's raw in its depiction of that, but it doesn't have any deeper meaning or message, althought i think it's the perfect book to over-analyze and over-intellectualize until people believe it's something that really isn't. it's crude, but it's not that deep.

i'm so dissappointed... i loved the first book and i never thought this one could be so bad. the characters are back to the beginning, and the whole book is so repetitive when it comes to their relationship, they're constantly going back and forth and it's not properly justified. this makes the plot feel stuck until literally the last 100 pages or so, but when it finally starts moving along it doesn't make any sense. there's no explanation for why they suddenly forgive and trust each other, it just happens. and honestly, how everything resolves at the end feels rushed and very convenient. i wish the author had made the first book longer and a standalone, i feel like it would have made much more sense, specially for the romantic relationship

this was so incredibly unnecessary... it didn't add anything to the overall story and it wasn't even a good mystery by itself
