Amazing primer for beginners who want to understand gender theory and postmodernist philosophy. This is a theory book, and written for people already in leftist and activist spaces. Riki is an amazing writer and her ability to approach intensely abstract ideas in approachable ways is amazing. She believes in inclusivity in our theory and activism and makes many extremely good points, but I wouldnβt be surprised if people who over identify with identity politics take offense at this book. The only criticism I have is that this book was written in 2004, and forgets to include both anti-fat bias and disability Justice in its talks on inclusion, this may not be true of the updated editions. Thoroughly enjoyed this primer, did its job AND MORE explaining abstract ideas and introducing meta-cognitive discourse. Thank you Riki! I will be recommending this primer to everyone I know.
