I'm curious if anyone else has a beloved book that you really wish got more attention. Recently I came across 🔗The Girls by John Bowen in a bookshop. It was originally published in the 80s but has just been re-released with new cover (I think they're trying to catch the weird girl lit market).

Anyway, I hadn't heard of that book before and now I'm excited to read it. I've been kind of daydreaming about some of my fave books getting a similar treatment. I wish I was a publisher and could somehow make it happen!

Here are two books I think deserve a re-release to find a new audience, but I'd love to hear your picks:

🔗Venus as a Boy by Luke Sutherland: I discovered this book due to obsessively searching for queer books as a teen. There weren't quite as many options 15 years ago but I'm so glad I discovered this - it's a short strange little coming of age story with a lot of magical realism. I don't know if it's still in print, it might just be print on demand these days and there are some second hand copies floating around. I would just love to see more people read it and though I don't dislike the cover, I think it has the potential for some really gorgeous new cover art.

🔗The Hounds of the Mórrígan by Pat O'Shea: This is an Irish children's fantasy book originally published in the 80s. It's based on Irish mythology and it's just so charming, funny, sweet, magical. It did get a "for fans of HP" type rerelease in the 2000s but it's now out of print. I actually think Terry Pratchett fans would love it so much, or anyone who wants a cosy nostalgic feeling story as a replacement for reading HP.
