I know we all have different opinions on what makes for a good review, and there have been a few club posts about writing good reviews, but I want to know what makes a review useful to you as a potential reader. What elements in a review do you pay most attention to? What can sway you one way or the other with a book? What do you wish more reviews included - or excluded?
If I'm writing a review for other people to read and judge the book on, I want to make sure I've included what people actually care about!

What is the difference to you between TBR and Interested tag? No other tracking app ive used has it so I'm not sure how to fit it in.

hi everyone! i know many of us here use libraries but i also do know that there are many of us who do not or can not utilize library access as much as we'd like. i'm a library student graduating in october and i have learned so much about all kinds of libraries and what they offer to their patrons. so, here are examples of what you may be able to access, other than books, thanks to libraries!
⢠streaming services (kanopy, hoopla, etc) ⢠national park passes ⢠museum passes ⢠musical instruments ⢠DVDs, VHS tapes, and CDs ⢠access to rare collections and archives (old newspapers, documents, letters, etc.) ⢠free art exhibitions ⢠book clubs ⢠home book delivery (in case anyone has mobility issues or lacks transportation) ⢠materials & books in braille ⢠assistance with job applications! ⢠citizenship support (refugee and immigrant assistance) ⢠concerts, film screenings, and lectures ⢠clubs (minecraft, D&D, anime, pokemon, etc) ⢠assistance with learning to cook ⢠access to early voting! ⢠genealogy and ancestry research ⢠interlibrary loans (one of my faves) ⢠free internet access ⢠clean air and protection from outdoors ⢠board games ⢠language classes ⢠makerspaces ⢠meeting rooms for companies/students/organizations ⢠tickets to local events ⢠periodicals (magazines, newspapers, etc) ⢠podcasts ⢠librarian personalized book picks! ⢠printing (free or low-cost) ⢠seasonal reading challenges ⢠research assistance and access to databases (proquest & other journals) ⢠entrepreneurship assistance ⢠social services (shelter for us housed patrons, narcan for overdoses, addiction assistances, food banks, community fridges, etc) ⢠tech support (learning how to use a certain device or platform) ⢠life jackets ⢠telescopes ⢠cameras ⢠mp3 players with audiobooks on them ⢠jackets ⢠sewing machines ⢠dvd players ⢠video games ⢠ipads and apple pencils ⢠tutoring and reading assistance ⢠volunteering opportunities ⢠assistance to veterans ⢠workshops ⢠access to news stations & radio ⢠cookbooks and recipes ⢠car repair services ⢠CELA collections (for people with print and sensory disabilities) ⢠encyclopedia access ⢠video tutorials ⢠vegetable and flower seeds!
and many many more!! libraries are vast institutions and one of the only third spaces that remain free, accessible and open to everyone. please, get that library card and take advantage of what libraries give you!

I have FALLEN OFF this month, because I redownloaded Instagram after not having it for four months. Needless to say, it is gone again. š Iām excited to rededicate this time to reading! I hate scrolling so much. Itās so annoying how sucked in I get, no matter the goals I set to avoid it. Better that I donāt even have it!
Do yall have anything like that? Any kind of measures you take to ENSURE that you have reading time carved out for yourself? I read SO much more when I donāt let myself have Instagram. It feels so much better! Iām looking for other suggestions as well!

One of the greatest aspects (imo) of Pagebound is user created lists. The possibilities are endless and really highlights the creativity of this community.
That being said, I thought it would be nice to give a little extra love to lists!
Share your favorite list (or lists) in the comments.
⨠bonus points if you provide a link to the list ⨠bonus bonus points if the list you share has less than 50 upvotes! - letās show some extra love to some lists with less traffic!
I hope this post will help connect even one person to a range of books they may have otherwise not found, or inspire someone to try out a new genre š

Hi fellow pagebounders! I am doing a little of cleaning of my bedroom and just started the book stacks and shelves part. I'm getting rid of some books I don't want anymore. But I'm also reorganizing my shelves. And I don't know how I should reorganize it. š« I had some shelves by favorites and others just simply with all books randomly. So I have a few questions!

The infamous "JUST ONE MORE CHAPTER", as we tell ourselves...š
For me it's pretty much any book that I started late in the evening and got absorbed into. Worse if it's a series because then I try to binge the whole series.
Most recently, it was Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archives, either Words of Radiance or Oathbringer (I read these over the weekend and completely lost track of time lol).

Tell me about your bookmarks! Are you the sort of person who uses whatever is closest? Like a receipt, scrap paper, pen, peg, hair tie or whatever fits between the pages?
Do you dog ear the page, leave the book flat face down, or just rip off the pages you've already read because who even needs them anymore?
Or are you the sort of person who has 1 billion bookmarks but always uses the same one (like me)?
My go to bookmark is the one my fav local book store gives out with purchases and a baby pink one that say "i like to yap about books" in hot pink on it that was given by a friend!

How do you pick them? Do you have a variety of picks that sum up your taste, or do you spotlight favorite or recent reads? Is there any book in particular that you feel represents your taste as a reader?
I love looking at what people list in My Taste - it always makes me curious about them! For me, I try and have some variation in my picks to represent the genres and story elements that I like best.
Thank you in advance for letting me be nosy about your taste, because I WILL be looking šµļøš«”
