Why is this giving… Wattpad-ish vibes of a smutty forbidden trope? I am genuinely terrified but I do not want to DNF nervous laugh

I enjoyed the book. That’s the review. That is the summary of my review for this book.
Yes, I did enjoy it but its attempts to be an ‘enemies-to-lovers’ trope did not entice me, even for a little bit. I did admire Aaron Blackford, and honestly, he is the only thing that keeps me going with this book, and don’t look at me like that! I love a caring man, and he is not even real so sue me but I digress.
Sadly, the trope it was trying to be was not reflecting on this book. But luckily, I was not laser focused on that thought while picking up this book since I was only looking for something to walk me through my inevitable reading slump for the month.
So in short, do I highly recommend this book if you are looking for THE best enemies-to-lovers trope? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Do I recommend this to anyone who just wants to read something on a random day without any prejudices or thoughts in mind? Yes, but just do not expect too much.

I was expecting to not like this book but… hate me if you will, it is starting to grow on me. There are some things that bothered me but I clearly forgot to take note of it so meh. BUT I AM LOVING EVERY SECOND OF IT!

To be honest, I love the family in this book and how we navigate their loss more than the romance itself. I did like the romance, especially I just love Poston’s tone when she writes so it makes the reading so special as always. I did not overlook the weird terms here because I do find them weird and very Wattpad-ish so that is one of my negatives for the book. I also feel like the ML and FL are not doing anything enough? Does that makes sense? Like, in a sense, to make their romance have enough substance than just them talking and sharing their grief. I don’t know I just find it too short BUT the end where they met finally in FLESH AND BONE that kept my toes up. So yeah, a very controversial first 5 star read for me this year!
