  • do you read in silence, with genre-specific ambience, with music?

i’m a self-proclaimed new reader, and i was wondering how everyone else reads—in silence? with music?

i’ve been exploring different subgenres of fiction to see what sticks most, and i’ve been enjoying bathing myself with respective “ambience” videos on youtube.

music with lyrics more often than not interrupts my brain. i find silence peaceful, though it can be difficult to find those silent spaces outside of your own domain :’)

  • Audiobooks, yes or no?🎧

I’ve never tried an audiobook! Are there specific books that we think is best to engage with via audiobook?

Also, what are we doing with ourselves whilst listening to the story.. crocheting, colouring, immersive reading??

I find I need to keep my hands busy or they will naturally gravitate to my phone and mindless scrolling, hence why I enjoy reading.

    What’s our thoughts on audiobooks?đŸ€š

  • How do you read a series?

What is everyone’s preferred way to read a series? I often like to change it up in between books; it makes my ADHD brain happy! But then I feel like I never complete a series, and there are a bunch I would like to complete. Where do I begin? Does anyone have any tips? I’m overwhelmed
lol

Beautiful and poignant, and touched me very deeply. I did as many of the prompts as I could and I came away from this one with a new perspective, which was so exciting. I highly recommend this one!

Overall, I loved this scathing commentary on the U.S. foresting complex and how it relates to (supposed) myths like Bigfoot, but also very real animals. My copy was from 1995, but there is an updated version I would like to check out. A bit rambly at times, but in the way of a conversation, so I didnt mind it as much. I would supplement this one with indigenous perspectives on paranormal phenomena (such as The Paranormal Ranger) and ecology (such as Braiding Sweetgrass, which is on my TBR).

  • What Year a Book is Read In?

If you start reading a book in December 2025 and finish it in January 2026, would you count it as a 2025 read or a 2026 read?

PageBound and other apps put the book as 2026, but my brain is conflicted because I started it in 2025 so it doesn’t feel completely right to say it’s a 2026 read even though I did finish it in 2026. I also track my books in notes still (idk why aha) and I list the books under the month in order of when I started them with book title, author and dates read. So in my list it’s in December 2025 which I think may be why it doesn’t feel completely right to say it’s a 2026 book.

I am probably thinking about this way to much but curious to hear other peoples thoughts hehe
