I've enjoyed every single work Shannon Chakraborty has written so far, and this was no exception.
The story begins with the retrieval of the second transgression, which concludes quickly and successfully. Amina returns to her family but soon has to leave them again as the Peris send her after the third transgression, a spindle that can rewrite fate.
As always, I really enjoyed how vividly Shannon describes the imagery of every place (please can I get a spin-off or a bonus story set in Sarilaglag?) and the attention to detail.
Friendship and family were really emphasised, which I appreciate, because such relationships are no less strong or important than romantic ones. With Amina and Dalila being central characters of this book, there was a bigger focus on their relationship. The latter frustrated me by withholding information. A lot would've been solved had they just talked to each other. I also missed the camaraderie of the crew, as Amina and Dalila were isolated in an enchanted city for a large part of the book.
The interludes also annoyed me a bit. They did add extra context, but it took a while for them to make sense, while I just really wanted to continue Amina's story, which they kept interrupting. I honestly was not that interested in Lab's origin story, and I thought the brief visit to Sarilaglag was more interesting than the time spent in Khatti Ugal. Overall I preferred the plot of the first book to the strange sorceress queen and her island.
Despite that, Tapestry of Fate did not dissapoint me. I think Shannon is a phenomenal author, and her less than perfect works are still amazing.
