you could say this shit was weird and miraculous ;)
i like my women gay, yearning, and unhinged and this delivers that in strides with our three main characters: a mad heretic, a lady night, and a gremlin of a girl. i loved the underlying tension and horror that surrounds blind faith and what becomes of this fictional religion. the prose is circular andāmost timesānonsensical but i think thatās the point, mirroring the mental state of the MCs. it gets claustrophobic, and pretty gross as you would expect when cannibalism is involved. i see why this may not be some peopleās cup of tea but it is mine and iāll take it with honey, please and thank you š

Excellent worldbuilding, fascinating characters, and beautiful prose all wrapped up in a nice bow. It was a novella so it was short, thatās my main complaintāI wish it was longer! That being said, I loved the story we did get. Even through the time jumps, the relationships felt distinct and developed enough to me. I love how youāre just thrown into the world and get to find out how it works. The magic system in particular was fascinating but it was also cool how people are born genderless and can then eventually choose their gender. Itās so unique and queer and Asian. I definitely want to check out the rest of the series!
