I think that was not for me. It's quite a chill book, but nothing much is going on (as expected) and the topics covered in the novel are very familiar to me. The discourse the author makes around reading culture, favourite books, journalists vs publishing companies, influence of booksellers, etc. is nothing new to me and I feel I didn't find a new angle to a perspective. It was difficult for me to tell the characters apart, so it's hard for me to say what went well or bad. Def a recommend for anyone who's interested in reading as culture or as a concept and has become "serious" with it for the very first time... and isn't exposed to much online booktalk discussion.

This book really makes me want to open a bookshop/cafe, but one thatās open til late at night. I have a lot of fond childhood memories roaming the aisles of Barnes and Noble past 10pm since they would always be open til 11. Now everything closes at 8 or 9 and it just isnāt the same. Can you imagine a cozy late night bookshop? š

Hi everyone, we're excited to share the 4 selections for the Fall Readalong, running September - November! We announce Readalong titles a month in advance to give everyone time to place library holds. The Seasonal Readalong page will be updated soon with the books below, but in the meantime, feel free to add them to your TBR!
How to Be Eaten by Maria Adelmann: A darkly funny horror novel featuring group therapy, fairytale retellings, and feminism.
The Incandescent by Emily Tesh: A sapphic dark academia fantasy set at an elite boarding school, where our heroine is a powerful demonology teacher on a mission.
Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor: A genre-bending sci-fi novel that interweaves the story of Zelu, a disabled Nigerian-American writer, with chapters from the novel she's writing, blurring the boundary between the real world and the created world.
The Ornithologist's Field Guide to Love by India Holton: A cozy and whimsical Victorian era romcom with 2 rival ornithologists, travel via parasol, and a lot of scheming and flirting.
Excited to read with everyone in the coming months!
Happy reading, Jennifer & Lucy
