the past is truly an open wound.
a unique story about the consequences of war and how it affected these characters and their relationships.
the characters are flawed but they're excellently written. first few pages were a bit confusing but szabó's prose is just gorgeous. the execution of the non-linear storytelling is wonderful and did not feel clunky at all.
magda szabó, i am about to read all your work.

shoutout to my friend for sending me audio messages of her reading this to me! i have such a hard time reading physical books because of my dyslexia and i couldn’t find an audiobook of literally any of the event books. she is such an amazing person for doing this for me. i love my friend!! oh and the book is fine so far. i dont have any strong opinions or feelings it’s just alright.
