And you, child, who have lived in the dark. Someday you will grow old. Someday your life will tempt you to forget. All tyrants were children once. Do not be like your forebears, who abandoned you, who scratched your name from the ledgers, who made your bodies into kindling. Burn brighter than kindling. Burn brighter even than the Godfire. Burn justice and mercy into the worlds, and there will be no god greater than you. 😭

  • Faustian recs

Hello boundlings! While my TBR has already grown large, and I know my interested list will end up getting worse... [hammerhead shark lawsuit sticker] I'm here asking for new recs.

I'm searching for something specific this time: something with Faustian/pact with the devil themes or vibes! 😈

I already have Marlowe's Faust, The Master and Margarita by Bulgakov, Goethe's Faust (i still meed to read it bc my copy is an old one and it's a bit brittle lol), Markheim and The Devil in the Bottle from RL Stevenson, a booklet with two short stories by Dumas and Asselineau... and probably Dorian Gray could fit the "deal with the devil" part 🤔 I know I'm missing the Faust by Thomas Mann, but I'll get to it.

Anyway! TL;DR: pretty please, drop your devilish pact book/short stories/etc recs!

  • Recommend me a series with a strong cast

I’m looking for a binge-able series with a strong cast. I mean one with very 3D characters and character dynamics (found family is a strong plus, and if they have messy un/healthy dynamics). I prefer books with

    • character development (as opposed to static characters in a changing plot)
    • a female MC or mixed gender multiple MCs
    • disability and/or queer rep
    • middle grade and up

    Some examples (books):

    • The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
    • Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
    • NERDS by Michael Buckley

(they dont need to be spies or detectives, these are just the ones off the top of my head)

    Thanks!
