I feel like the blurb is the whole book? Am I missing something? This book literally could’ve been an email

Lena Dunham is intelligent and witty and well-spoken. Ten years ago, I would have thought this book was brilliant and insightful. Now I mostly just feel bad for her, and by extension my twenty-five-year-old self.
There is so much raw pain and confusion and terror in this book, with not quite enough humor to take the edge off it, and only the very beginnings of an awareness that there might be something beyond the insecurity of early adulthood. Maybe someday Lena Dunham will have something really important to say about the fact that so many young women have such conflicted relationships with themselves and everything else, but right now she mostly just has graphic descriptions of the more depressing parts of being young.
