I know I will ultimately have positive feelings about this book, but I'm sick and tired of hearing about all these damn greenhouses, lol. There's like 100 of them. I don't want to hear every detail. 😭

    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

Basically, a modern Rosemary's baby. It was entertaining but it didn't subvert my expectations. There was a lot of body horror and cannibalism. The baby was basically like Renesmee from Twilight, lol. I thought it would delve deeper into the Trad Wife culture but not really. Oh, and the husband's treatment of the MC will make your blood boil. I mean, I could see how this could be cathartic for some people in the "female rage" sense but I don't know, I've read other books like this that do it better.

Just as good as T.Kingfisher's Sword Soldier series (just slower and repetitive in parts). There's bug horror, taxidermy, and bloodsucking parasitic humans! I was here for the vibes. This one got under my skin (pun intended). I liked the MC Sonia. She was a competent yet empathetic character. The relationship dynamics as a whole felt believable (probably because there was diverse representation that didn't revert to lazy stereotypes). Without spoiling anything, I enjoyed reading the last 1/3rd of the novel the most. Also, I read the acknowledgements for once and I appreciated how much research and effort the author put into writing this story.
