Part II was definitely better than Part 1. It was very confusing to read. I thought it was due to the translation. Also, this didn't my reading experience but this is labeled as horror on some reading websites. It's a dystopian sci-fi. (not that this still can't be horror). I did enjoy how this got weirder and weirder as the story continued, but I struggled to feel grounded within the world. I did like the culty/religious aspects. Those scenes kind of reminded me of Sorrowland by Rivers Solomon. And then there the footnotes, which didn't add much to the story for me. Pedro the Vast had some interesting stylistic choices. I didn't hate it, but it does feel a tad underdeveloped.
