does she ever explain everything about the worldbuilding/how she got to this point/sociopolitical stuff in detail, or is the reader just supposed to make educated guesses as it gets clearer and clearer?

This book has been obviously very upsetting the whole time but I’ve officially shed my first tears. I can tell the end of this is going to DESTROY me 😭😭😭😭

i’ve seen a lot of criticism (mostly from white content creators) about this book and i genuinely feel like anyone who trashes this book just didn’t get it or they’re more comfortable with june’s actions/ mindset than they’re willing to admit so it’s easier to just trash the book and story all together. this isn’t to say that people aren’t allowed to not like books bc reading is subjective but a lot of people’s commentary about this story and its messages are ……off lol. to say the absolute least. i’d love to see more stories like this from other minority perspectives too this is a 4 star read to me and i kinda wish i could read it again for the first time even though june made me wanna rip my hair out 💀
