As a non native speaker, It is practically impossible to understand what Joseph is saying and I tend to skip his dialogues 😵

The Heathcliff blunt rudeness is comedic.
"Were you asked to Tea?" "I shall be glad to have a cup" "Were you asked?" and then flinging the tea away after hearing no
"Can i get a guide who can help me get back home, they can stay over for the night " "No"

Wuthering Heights
Emily Brontë

Short and quick read but it is really relevant with respect to the current state of overconsumption in our society.

"A Paradise Built in Hell describes how gift economies seem to arise spontaneously in times of disaster. When human survival is threatened, compassionate acts overrule market economies."
This is so interesting, I wanna further read into this phenomenon!

I usually do not read a lot of non fiction unless its being informative. Objectively speaking, I wouldn't say that so far this book has been heavily informative.
Subjectively speaking, 1) I did not know a thing about serviceberry. In fact i picked up this book just because it was in the readalong list and I didn't know that the title serviceberry wasn't some made up impression but the name of a fruit lmao. 2) I really like the idea of abundance and economy of gifting instead of commodification. (Like the author I am not an economist who can give an expert opinion on it but still i like the sound of it)
