How do we feel about adding rereads to our reading challenges? And if you don’t like it, why? Cause I didn’t used to add them but now I’m like maybe I should? So wanted to know how everyone else felt!

I had put this book in my TBR back in 2020 because the description reminded me of a bollywood movie I had watched called '7 khoon maaf' (7 murders forgiven) which came out in 2011. (if you guys can watch it, do so!) It was a story about how 7 husbands of a woman were mysteriously dying one after the other.
So my initial thought, without knowing a lot, was that this book could be a thriller. But over the years I did know the general premises of the book.
Do see my review if you guys can but I am somewhat disappointed. I think i had a lot of expectations after all the hype. I enjoyed it but it was underwhelming.

I will start off by saying that I had this book in my TBR since roughly 2020 when I had gotten back into reading during covid and I had heard a lot of good things about it.
All I can say is that I am disappointed. I won't say that I dislike the book, I enjoyed reading it till the end but it isn't what I had thought the book would be like.
I enjoyed Daisy Jones and the Six more than I enjoyed this one and maybe it was because I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audiobook of the former (or maybe my hormones and feelings were just right when I listened to DJatS)
I am sorry but there was no chemistry between Celia and Evelyn. During the years when this book sat in my TBR, I was spoiled about the fact that Evelyn was bisexual and she 'truly loved only one person and it was a woman'. When Celia was introduced in the book i assumed she might be a love interest with Ruby being a second contender in my assumption lol. What I didn't expect was the lack of chemistry.
At first I felt that Evelyn was forming a crush for Celia and probably Celia saw her as an elder sister who would guide her through the industry. When Celia is revealed to be a lesbian and Evelyn immediately kisses her, I cringe with embarrassment. It is explicitly stated a couple of pages later that Celia was always into Evelyn. Hence the relationship felt a lot of 'tell' rather than 'show'. I truly feel the chemistry near the end but not much earlier.
Bisexuality is not correctly represented, the husbands that Evelyn loved only felt like side pieces just to say 'yeah in case you forgot, she is bisexual'. Again a lot of 'tell' but no 'show'
Monique made some weird comments that felt forceful. Even the comments she made about her father was so off when she has heard Evelyn's story and read the letter.
The only good things written were Evelyn and Harry.
