I’m started to get really frustrated with blurbs!! I don’t think the description of this bool does a good job of presenting its story at all. It doesn’t allude to the stakes of the characters opening this restaurant or how prominently the political commentary is woven into the story. There’s a difference between spoon-feeding an audience your plot and describing what it is your book’s actually about. I personally don’t like stories that try to apply human social constructs onto non-human beings when humans still exist in the universe because of how it muddies the commentary, so I probably wouldn’t have picked this up if I’d known what it was actually about.
It’s a shame because I wanted to read about robots working at a noodle shop and all of those parts I really enjoyed, but I’m going to have to DNF this. I also feel like the word “cozy” is getting thrown around willy nilly. Inspiring or resilient is probably a better word to describe the atmosphere of this book. There’s nothing cozy about post-war repair or fighting against marginalization
