  • What’s your PB quirk? šŸ‘€

Is there something you do on PB that’s a little quirky? Maybe you use a certain feature in a unique way or have a ritual/habit?

I’ll go first: I like going to the Discovery tab and checking the ā€œToday’s Featured Emojiā€ section to see if I have none of the featured books read. I have no idea why, it just gives me little thrill to think I somehow dodged all the listed books 🤣

  • You’re at the bookstore šŸ‘€

You are browsing at a bookstore and see a cover that catches your attention. You know nothing about the author or the story so you flip a third of the way into the book. You read two sentences and slam the book shut. Shelve it and walk away. What did you read?

Incredibly bold expose on the city of Dallas during the civil rights era. This historical context is essential to understanding how racial politics shaped the community.

The history of the book itself is also fascinating. The original publication was so limited this was considered a rare book until it was finally republished 35 years later.

Sadly, the writing and execution could’ve been better. The pacing felt off and the structure felt disorganized.

  • baby/children's book recs please 🧸

my husband and I will be welcoming a little one early 2027, and since she'll be our first I'm on the hunt for book recs šŸ“š

We've gotten a few board books so far, but with so many options out there I'm slightly overwhelmed - so if you have any children's books you've come across and enjoyed, I'd happily take their titles 🄰 I'd love to raise a diverse little reader!

edit: THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! This is such a fantastic collection of recommendations, I'm writing them all down for either now or the future. PB is truly the best community šŸ„°šŸ’•

  • Trans lives matter more than HP

I’m just looking for more people to follow who hold this belief. I recently made a comment on here on a quest that we as a community shouldn’t platform HP because of the harm JKR is doing to trans people like me and I’m being called a book burner for this when I never called for book burning. JKR enacts politically violence and has assaulted a trans woman (took upskirt photos of this woman) and I’m tired of being told I’m a book burner when I ask people not to platform for that. Her money she earns from HP is being used to hurt trans people like me. I just need other people to follow on here with the same beliefs because I’m tired and feeling ostracized in the book community for believing Trans lives matter more than a stupid book
