Wes is your sweetheart next door and I really enjoyed the audiobook for this one. Ada is the classic FMC that can’t get out of her own way. 🤣 and Gus is still just a d*** (which I’m sure he will grow on me in his story).
This book had me laughing, kicking and screaming like a lil school girl, blushing and all of the above. It was entertaining and I never got bored because the spicy scenes were for sure spicy 🌶️ 🥵. I loved Ada and her background and related to her insecurities of no one liking her (since it is one of my own). Wes was sweet and caring and always supportive which I also loved. He never faltered in his feelings for her and fought for her every step of the way. Loved this book and looking forward to the next!

The guy on the cover does not at all match what I'm picturing in my head for Wes. I'm thinking a rugged Chris Pine-type for him and picturing Camila Mendes as Ada. The cover is not giving typical hot cowboy romance novel vibes for me. Thoughts?

So many questions… What if I never see my home again? How did he sneak up on me? Why did he do that? Our main character is in a constant state of wonder apparently.

Hmmmm not really sure I'm fully feeling it? Specifically the romance portion that's on the horizon. If its done right I can appreciate it and give the author kudos but I'm worried it's going to wind up like every other "spicy" romantasty and the MMC's traumatic history is gonna end up brushed off. At this current point I would rather read about the two characters in two separate stories rather than together. I'm way more invested in Maevyth's story than Zevander's. He's just hitting me as stereotypical broody, morally grey love interest with more intense trauma. I feel like if his personality was more fleshed out I'd love him a lot more and be more invested in his plot line. I'm not in DNF territory yet but I hope I'm not disappointed.
