Idk what happened but after i finished my latest book I haven’t read in over a week. I borrowed almost 10 books from the library and haven’t read most of them and I have to return them now 😭 What do you do to help with reading slumps, or to help you feel motivated to read again?

"Who is this person again?" followed by a few flips of the pages backwards is not uncommon in my daily life when I'm reading a book.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have just recently returned to reading as a hobby, and how the times have changed my taste in reading books.

However, one thing about me is the same - I am very good at remembering faces, and very bad at remembering names. This includes name of songs, movies, titles, and most importantly, people, or in this case book characters.

Since I am not new to Crime as a genre, I know that there can be many characters including the perpetrator, victims, detectives, lawyers, judges, and members of jury - and how they are recognised by their Last Names, but sometimes referred to their First by their close friends, family members etc.

I didn't realise how much this would be an issue (to myself personally) when I read Crime/Thriller Books. I constantly have to flip a few pages, create a face for them, and then (try to) remember them from then on!

I am not complaining. I think it's fun and silly and it makes me more invested, especially when the realisation hits and I exclaim "Ohhh HIM!"

I wonder if anyone else "struggles" with this like I do, and I am wondering how do you "overcome" this? I am thinking of sticking a note at the front of the book that I can refer back to easily, so I'm wondering if anyone does the same🤣😁

When people ask me, "What is your favourite book?", I will never fail to answer "Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard!"

That has been my answer for the past 10 years. Since then, I haven't really dedicated my time into reading as much, as I developed different hobbies. Yet, I still read Red Queen at least TEN times over the past years!! (Yes, I love rewatching the same movies and TV shows series as well!).

Recently, I am getting back into reading because it is genuinely such a great pastime. I never liked Romance, but I am a big fan of Fantasy (which almost includes romance everytime!), or at least I used to be. Today I realised, as I grow older, I'm definitely more interested in Crime, Thriller, and Historial Fiction. I prefer real world settings, situations one may encounter in real life, rather than superpowers or mythical creatures. I am still yet to read more books within this range of genre, so I am yet to find my "new favourite".

Nevertheless, I am happy to come back to reading and making it my full-time hobby - and my favourite book will still be Red Queen (as of now at least!) ❤️

Sometimes you're reading a book or you're watching a movie and they name-drop israel and you're like oh! and so you google the author/director/whatever and you find out they're a well known zionist! so there's that ... thankfully I bought this secondhand so no money got to her, but it kinda ruined it for me, will keep reading it but yknow... definitely not buying any of her other books though for sure

Update! We got mixed feedback about the new feed changes (removing spoiler posts & comments from people you follow if that book is not in your library), so this is now a setting in your preferences that you can turn on and off. The default shows all activity from people you follow, and if you want the more customized feed you can toggle this setting off under Settings -> Preferences (you can only find this setting on web right now, but your feed setting will apply to both web and app feeds. The toggle will be in the next app release).

Some people really love the change and feel their feed is less overwhelming and more tailored to them, while others felt they missed out on what their friends were discussing and enjoy the discoverability aspect of seeing new-to-you book posts in their feed. Hopefully this update addresses everyone's needs!

I was reading the Quests and Points FAQs, and I have a few additional questions. My apologies if these have already been asked. (DISCLAIMER: This is not a complaint. This is just my "Thought Process" while spending time here on Pagebound)

1. Do we receive points after earning badges from Quests and Read-Along Challenges?

Based on the FAQs, it seems that readers receive badges but not points for completing these achievements. If that's the case, may I kindly suggest adding a small point reward, perhaps 3 or 5 points for every badge earned from Quests and Read-Along Challenges?

I think this would be a wonderful congratulatory gift for readers who put in the effort to complete quest levels and actively contribute to the growing Pagebound community. Even a small reward could make earning badges feel even more meaningful and motivating.

2. Can we still earn badges for books that were featured in previous Read-Along seasons?

I sincerely hope the answer is yes. Many readers have long and ever-growing TBRs, and it's not always possible to read the featured Read-Along book during its active season. Others carefully plan their monthly reading lists, so immediately picking up the Read-Along selection may disrupt their schedule.

Allowing readers to earn badges for past Read-Along books would encourage them to participate at their own pace while still engaging with the community and discovering great books, even after the official event has ended.
