This book would have been a five star for me if it weren't for the ending. I loved the summer camp setting and the scary messages left for the CITs, it reminded me so much of R.L.Stines 'Fear Street' series + a little bit of Pretty Little Liars. I also enjoyed that teens actually behaved and talked like teens in this book. However the ending and how Kayla was written were a huge let down... i got annoyed but the whole hot and cold aspect of Kayla(believeing Esme and then turining on her and making her seem crazy). The ending? Felt rushed, we got no closure or actual answeres, no follow up...i wish we got a scene with the core four talking about that night. All in all this book had some excellent elements which sadly in my opinion weren't excecuted properly.

The ending is such a disappointment it feels like a chapter is missing...we get no closure at all

'I've spent so much time and effort making sure things aren't too much for her. I never get that in return.' Oh Esme🥺 God that hit me where it hurts and brought me right back to high school and sucky friends

Sometimes when i get to a good part in a book, ill get excited because i know what’s coming, so my eyes jump to the end of the page and i spoil it before i actually can read what’s happening. (curse great pattern recognition) this is especially upsetting because ive been reading mysteries and the big reveal is my favourite part, even if i already know who done it.

I’ve seen more people in the bookish community condemn pirating, but other medias like video games and tv/movies condone it. I think it’s because of how with books it’s more indie driven, and how these are people’s livelihoods. But with others, it’s ran by big corporations that will strike down anything with their media in it, making them inaccessible unless if you’re willing to shell out money. (If it’s a spectrum, a lot of books are indie, video games is in between, there are plenty indie but also triple A, and not much tv/movies, it’s snuffed down by said corpos). Also the fact that libraries exist, it’s basically a place with free books (and movies and shows and music and a bunch of other things.
I dont know, I thought it was interesting…? I want your opinions on this. I want to read more indie authors (I do have ku after all), but sometimes I may not have money. I have to specify: I haven’t pirated before. I don’t really do pirating but have stumbled upon sites.

This was a great read that got me out of my slump! My expectations were low to say the least when i started the book but i was nicely surprised at how much i enjoyed reading this even though i wanted to punch Daniel every 5 minutes in the first part of the book. I rooted for Alice and Luke and was heartbroken by their storyline😢. I love when a horror book makes me laugh and cry with a good amout of scaring me as well! The basement scene with Nora made my stomach turn.🤢 Oh and BUCK! Thank god nothing happend to that dog, i was ready to go to war for that amazing dog🐕
