3.75 ⭐ round down I received an ARC of this book from the author, this is my honest review. . . . I need to get this out of my chest first - Blaen deserved much better. My bram just couldn't catch a breath for one damn minute.

This book has such rich wordbuilding, it made me struggle a bit in the first half, but then so many things happened, I just couldn't put it down. Another thing I had to get used to and made me struggle, were the time jumps. I am not a big fan of one chapter being the present and next one is the past. I used the glossary way too many times for my liking, cause I was the living "Wait what? Wait who?" meme.

What I absolutely adore about this book is the fact the MMC and FMC are siblings! I got so annoyed with Rhiain and Uther's relationship though. I just couldn't stop thinking about it as if there was a hint of Electra complex, which wasn't my vibe honestly. I am so thankful for Idris, or else I would most likely not be a big fan of Rhiain in general, but her romance with Idris saved me.

My star of the show is definitely Blaen. And Teilo. But I'm not ready to talk about Teilo yet, I need more of their friendship like yesterday. Overall I would say that this book is a solid start of a new series that is much different that what's been putting out here lately. I am excited for the next book and I need my boy Blaen to be finally happy.
